Welcome to the most beautiful place on earth!
Casa de Mañana, a new 2-Bedroom, 1-Bath home, is located in the Pacific Coast region of Guanacaste, Costa Rica in the small beach town of Playa Junquillal (Hoon-kee-yall). Playa Junquillal, although relatively close to many exciting attractions and nightlife, is beautifully remote, quiet and safe. Women and GLBT travelers will feel very welcome visiting here. It is home to approximately 120 permanent residents comprised of both Tico's (locals to Costa Rica) and foreigners alike. Here you will find one of the country's largest and most beautiful untouched beaches surrounded by an incredible landscape and an abundance of wildlife. From Howler Monkeys to parrots, you are sure to see and hear the wonderful sounds of the tropics around every turn.
The house is perfect for 2 couples, small families, or very close friends! The beach, a short 8 minute walk, or 2 minute drive on the beach road is one of the largest stretches of untouched beaches in the country. You can enjoy the sounds of the surf during high tide from the back terrace or yard. The house is beautifully furnished and includes all of the necessary amenities; a full kitchen, Master Bedroom with King bed, 2nd bedroom with double bed, air conditioning, basic mini-bar (The water here is perfectly drinkable, so you don't have to worry about having to drink warm cocktails with no ice!), beach and bath towels, 2 Mountain Bikes and 2 snorkeling sets. The house is only a 1 hour drive from the recently expanded Liberia International Airport. It is a 3 1/2 drive from the San Jose International airport, where we typically find the lowest airfare. We provide all of our guests with precise driving instructions to the house from either airport.
We have taken extra precautions to ensure the house is secure while we are out of the country, which also means that our guests can relax and enjoy themselves without being preoccupied with concerns about their valuables in a “foreign country”.
Playa Junquillal ~ Stunning Untouched Beach!
Even in the peak season you may find that you have the entire beach all to yourself. The pictures you will see on this site are not tricks. They were not taken at 5AM while everyone was asleep. They have been taken at different times of the day on any day of the week.
How we got the name "Casa de Mañana"
Casa de Mañana means "House of Tomorrow". For us, this has two meanings. Personally, it means that we have finally achieved our goal of owning a piece of paradise. Something that we have worked very hard to achieve. We have spent years planning for "tomorrow" and that time has finally come!
And the other meaning? Well, if you have ever been to Costa Rica, you probably know that things do not move all that quickly. The days may be beautifully sunny and hot beach days, but probably aren't ideal for manual labor. Delivery times may be slow, and finding the right materials can be quite the daunting task. We became very accustomed to hearing that something would be done "tomorrow" or would be delivered "tomorrow", only to hear it all over again "tomorrow"! However, we can tell you that it all has been well worth the wait!
Keith and Al Toney, proud owners of Casa de Mañana, have traveled to Costa Rica many times over the years, each time debating over exactly which area they wanted to purchase their own piece of this tropical paradise. Each time they found new places to visit, however they always returned to Playa Junquillal. They fell in love with the natural beauty and tranquility, amazing sunsets over the ocean each day, the delightfully warm waters, and the local residents, many of whom they now consider friends.
During the winter of 2007/2008 they embarked on their longest trip ever, determined to find the right property for them. They were fortunate enough to arrive in Playa Junquillal just as the construction of the now known "Casa de Mañana" had begun. Throughout their stay they watched patiently as the cement shell evolved into a remarkable home that was just right for them, their families and friends. The timing could not have been better and their long time dream has become a reality!
Keith and Al are also sculptors and their artwork can be found throughout the property. (Those that could be transported easily in their luggage that is!). Their works range from playful and explicit human forms to their stunningly unique dinnerware, bowls and platters. If you would like more information or are interested in seeing what is available for purchase, please email them directly. They can ship anything from their US address.
